Confessions..conFASHions..Conscientious Sales Pitch.

Goodwill...Bloomingdale's...Wal-Mart..Saks Fifth Ave...

I've been to all of them, shopped at them, returned items, and even window shopped at all of them.  Of course there is a difference between them all.  But to me, there is none.  They all contain one thing that I can see, and that's style.  It's evident that I love fashion, I love style, and I love styling, I love clothes, I love shoes, purses, etc.  But I have a confession...I'm not knowledgeable about fashion.  I don't study designers, I can't name every brand of clothing, and I definitely can't name every style/cut/make of fashion item there is.  "Who's that you're wearing?"  Don't get me wrong, I know of many of those categories, just not super conscientious of them all.  So who'd want someone like me to help them with their fashion needs?  Well...

I've had my run with individuals, agencies, and fashion shows.  But here's my sales pitch, if that's what you want to call it.  I have an EYE, a sense, or the ability to create or maintain style.  I love it all, but I don't have a favorite brand name, a fav type, nor a fav designer.  When I shop/style I don't look for those things.  Of course I consider quality, appeal, and cut you silly rabbit.  My biggest concern is making myself/that person OWN their look.  If you don't own it, who else will?  Style isn't something someone can take away from you.  But that's another topic.  "First comes style, then comes fashion, then comes the onlookers along with their famous reactions"

So....

Are you sold?

Distress the MESS!

So..here's a little crazy secret of mine..  well I like to call it my secret anyway...
I've never really been one to completely organize the clothes in my closet..  I've seen people with color-coordinated clothes, hanger-coordinated, brand-coordinated, etc..  Not I.  My advantage is..  I do it on purpose.  If you don't organize it, there's a better chance that you'll HAVE to be way more creative.  Think about it, if everything was in place it would be a lot easier to pick and choose right?  Well, for me, since everything is all throughout the closet I have no choice but to throw things together and create outfits.  It helps, try it!

Technical Writers...right?

Hmmm…

Everyone knows that there are technical writers for almost everything.  They are the people who put things into simpler terms for everyone else.  They also write those spiffy “how to” manuals and “computers for dummies” books.  But what if there were fashion technical writers?  Maybe there is, but, I mean those who write “how to” dress appropriate and wear what suits one’s body.  That would be awesome..
I’ll start with these blogs...

S.O.S. -Sense of Style

Well...

For starters (of this new domain I've joined), let me say hello.  HIIIIII.  I I'm Ashley, and I have all seven of my senses, do you?  Traditionally there are those common 5, sight, taste, touch, hear, and smell.  Although I know there are sources that list many other senses (a minimum of 9) that we have, I'd like to add my two.  Style and common (haha) sense.  Naturally, I'll only discuss style, today that is.

Where do I begin?  Well I'll start here.  With birth, my mom's fashion has always been innovative.  She's always had a sense of style, from then to now.  Let me show you what I'm talking about..

Agree?  You don't have to.  Why Because s.o.s. does not always agree.  It is your own perception how you would like to be viewed.  Now whether that translates into fashion is dependent upon other factors.  Fashion has its own domain, yes, it correlates with style but the two are very different.

This blog will seek to address the MANY ways that style is portrayed.  It's not just clothing, remember that.
